Pharmacological Prescribing at Avra Health
At Avra Health, we believe in using the right tool for the right patient at the right time. While our approach is rooted in naturopathic and lifestyle-based care, we recognize that pharmaceuticals can be a valuable and sometimes necessary part of restoring and maintaining optimal health.
In Colorado, we collaborate with an experienced nurse practitioner who brings full prescriptive authority under Colorado law, ensuring you have access to safe, evidence-based medication management when needed.
Why This Matters
Many patients come to us having tried “either/or” medicine — conventional drugs or natural approaches. At Avra Health, we integrate both. Your care plan may include targeted medications alongside nutrition, genetics-informed protocols, and lifestyle interventions.
What Our Nurse Practitioner Can Prescribe
Our NP works independently within her scope to diagnose, prescribe, and manage medications, including:
-
Hormone therapy: bioidentical estrogen, progesterone, testosterone
-
Thyroid medication: T4, T3, or combination therapy
-
Metabolic support: medications for cholesterol, blood sugar, or weight management
-
Targeted treatments: antibiotics, antivirals, or other short-term therapies as clinically indicated
All prescribing decisions are made by the NP, with the option to coordinate closely with Dr. Graham to ensure your plan integrates seamlessly with your overall care.
How It Works
-
Assessment – The NP will review your history, current concerns, and relevant labs.
-
Discussion – We’ll explore your options, including non-pharmaceutical alternatives when appropriate.
-
Prescription – If medication is recommended, you’ll receive clear instructions and a plan for follow-up.
-
Monitoring – Your response, labs, and progress will be tracked, with adjustments made as needed.
Our Philosophy on Medications
We use pharmaceuticals strategically — to address urgent symptoms, correct imbalances, or support healing — while continuing to address the root causes of your health concerns.
This means:
-
Lowest effective dose
-
Shortest necessary duration
-
Always integrated with lifestyle, nutritional, and genetic optimization

"Sometimes, a plan including pharmaceuticals is the best approach - at least for a time. When it comes to women's health, we couldn't ask for a more knowledgeable and compassionate Nurse Practitioner than Kyrie Anderson to prescribe and manage medications at Avra Health. "
