Sharon Wheeler’s ScarWork Therapy

Gentle, Restorative Therapy for Surgical and Traumatic Scars

At Āvra Health, we offer Sharon Wheeler’s ScarWork, a specialized manual therapy designed to improve the health, appearance, and mobility of scar tissue following surgery or injury. This gentle, hands-on approach was developed by Sharon Wheeler, a pioneer in fascial therapy and one of Ida Rolf’s original students.

Unlike traditional massage or scar treatments, ScarWork uses light, targeted techniques to stimulate the body’s natural healing response, improve fascial glide, and reduce the restrictions caused by adhesions beneath the surface. Most clients report their scars feel softer, less sensitive, and more integrated with surrounding tissue after just a few sessions.

ScarWork can support healing from:

  • C-section or abdominal surgery

  • Mastectomy or breast reconstruction

  •  Orthopedic surgeries (e.g., joint replacement, spinal fusions)

  • Burns, accidents, or traumatic injuries

Even scars that are years or decades old can respond remarkably to this approach, improving both aesthetic and functional outcomes — often reducing pain, numbness, tightness, or pulling sensations.

ScarWork is safe for all scar types and is especially valued for its role in restoring body confidence and tissue resilience as part of a holistic recovery process.
